Sunset on Husfjellet: An Unforgettable Experience

The hike begins at a small parking area next to a church, where you can park for free. The trail starts by passing a small seating area near the church before leading you into the forest. After leaving the forest, you’ll turn left and follow a gravel path. Parking location!

There is a shortcut, but we advise against it as it cuts through the mud and is significantly steeper. Stick to the regular gravel path, which is a more comfortable climb. The gravel path eventually transitions into a smaller trail that continues uphill through the forest. As you ascend, the path becomes increasingly boggy, so tread carefully. Wooden planks have been placed to help with the mud, but they don’t cover the entire route.

The trail itself is not very steep, making it a pleasant hike. However, the last stretch can be a bit more challenging. But like most rewarding hikes, the effort is well worth it. Once you reach the top, you’ll be greeted with a breathtaking 360° panoramic view.

The View: Devils Teeth and More

From the summit of Husfjellet, you’ll have an unparalleled view of the famous "Devils Teeth" peaks, the archipelagos to your right, and the surrounding fjords. This view is especially captivating at sunset when the sky and landscape are painted with incredible colors.

We recommend bringing a blanket so you can sit back, relax, and soak in the scenery as the sun dips below the horizon. The 360° panorama allows you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of Norway’s fjords.

Tips for the Descent

The descent follows the same path as the ascent. Be sure to bring a headlamp or flashlight, as it can get dark quickly after the sun sets, especially in September. Navigating through the forest can be tricky in the dark, so keep an eye out for the turnoff back to the church.
